The TEMP will spread the mission of the LEC Porto to Galician-Spanish high-schools and enable the partners, and especially XuvenCiencia at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), to apply the mission goals in the future independently. The two university partners, the University of Porto and the University of Santiago de Compostela, have long experience in the organization of scientific camps and other activities that promote scientific and technical vocations. This experience, together with the knowledge of the Porto Business School and the virtual platform of the School on project, will allow this TEMP to develop a formation program for high-school students on STEAM-based entrepreneurship.
Galicia belongs to one of the least developed areas in Spain. The rate of business creation is also one of the lowest. Within this context, the integration and reinforcement of entrepreneurship within the Open Schooling activities of XuvenCiencia in Galicia is of special relevance and impact. In this pilot project, the STEAM4E concept will be first offered to students and teachers of the existing STEMBach excellence initiative of the Galician Government, which provides both very motivated and well trained teachers and qualified and interested students of the last two years in secondary school. As Galician STEMBach does not integrate entrepreneurship in their objectives, this TEMP project may show the way how to expand the vision of the initiative in the future.
Junior Universities, all over the world, open their activities to develop student’s interest for many different areas of knowledge. The attendance to Junior Universities’ activities is high and raises every year, not only for the motivational process promoted but also as a quality leisure time. The Galician-Portuguese TEMP intends to promote school opening to society increasing the links between all the non-formal activities already being carried out at schools and increasing the relevance of society and Junior Universities in students learning process.
Teenagers participating in STEM excellence programs will receive training in entrepreneurship and then develop technological business ideas under the supervision of an Open Schooling cross-border network.
